| | | | | | | | How Do I Identify My Phone Model? |
 | |
November 21, 2005
If you need to add phones to your system or replace some that aren't working, there are several ways to determine the right telephone model. Most of these can be done right in your office. There are other ways where our website will provide help.
Many phones have the model number written on the front of them. Occasionally, it is on the bottom. For instance, MLS-12D is the phone model for the phone pictured above (for the Partner system).
The product number is another important identifier. It can be found on the bottom of the phone. For instance, the MLS-12D's part number is 3151-06. In most cases, you will find the model or part number. We still recommend you match it up with a picture if you have any doubt.
However, sometimes there are no model numbers or product numbers anywhere on the phone. Occasionally, there is actually an incorrect part or model # on the bottom. This is possible because the bottoms or bases of many phones that are from the same manufacturer are interchangeable. Since this is so, sometimes a base from one phone is used on another model in the refurbishing process. This is another reason to identify your model with pictures and by identifying the phone system it works on.
Pictures can help bring you closer to identification. We have pictures of most of the phones on our website. Almost all phones come in more than one color, so don't be put off if your phone's hue doesn't match the photo.
By the way, the serial number is not a factor in determining the product number or model.
Make sure, too, that you know the phone system this will work on. That means walking over to the phone box where all of the phones are cabled back to.
Finally, call us at (877) 862-3611. We'd be happy to make sure that you match up the specific phone that you need.
